Its director, Jane Covernton, formerly of Omnibus Books, is dedicated to showcasing the work of new and established writers and illustrators and to introducing children to the power of story.

A core part of the Working Title Press list is its Indigenous subject matter, which includes six traditional Dreaming Narratives featuring the artwork of Indigenous children from central and north-west Australia, and several award-winning non-fiction titles.

Another highlight is its strong focus on Australian content. At least eight Working Title picture books, including Bilby Moon, Bobbie Dazzler, Little Bat, The Long Way Home, Seadragon Sea, The Silver Stream and You And Me:Our Place and The Smallest Bilby and the Midnight Star feature characters and settings unique to Australia.
